New habit wanted: Expressing gratitude
I don't express gratitude regularly and I want to make it a habit.
I know why too. I do a lot of "once I have" thinking. You know, the kind that's like:
- "Once I have a new job I will be happy."
- "Once I get to eight figures I will be set."
- "Once I move to a new place it will be more fun."
These are pretty toxic thoughts. Once you do reach your goal, you're already onto the next "once I have" thought. And let's be real, the magic milestone you're waiting for is really not the reason you're doing what you're doing to begin with.
So, starting today, I'm starting a good ole' gratitude jar. Literally a glass jar, where I'll be placing slips of paper filled with one thing I'm grateful for when I sit down at my desk every day.
Total progress: 1 slip.
Hopefully watching it fill up gamifies it for me just like building streaks does.
Cheers to being grateful!
